The Smart Department was created by John Dabrowski and Mark Odlum. They first came together as childhood friends in West Hartford, CT and, after teaming up creatively, moved to Los Angeles to escape the East Coast’s humidity.
Over the years, Mark and John have made many talented friends in the entertainment world, whom they have taken advantage of by smartly collaborating with them, while offering little or no compensation. Thereby following the successful business model of the modern day sweatshop.
John’s cinematography and documentary television experience coupled with Mark’s background in comedy and mastery of playing idiots, allow the Smart Department to show us all an intelligent, innovative another way of seeing the world.
